Why upgrade heating and cooling in one system

Most people buy air conditioning for July. The same indoor unit keeps the house warm in January, for a fraction of what electric heaters cost to run.

An air-to-air heat pump moves heat rather than creating it. In winter it pulls heat from outside air into the room. In summer it works in reverse.

That is why one install covers both seasons, and why the Boiler Upgrade Scheme treats an eligible system as a heat pump rather than as cooling-only air conditioning.

If you only want cooling we can quote that too. It costs less up front, but it will not heat the room and it does not qualify for the grant.
